We are a family of many traditions…traditions that have stood the test of time. One such tradition, is our Easter dinner and egg hunt at the Ware family house. My grandmother Leona was the queen of the family egg hunt. She would spend hours labeling the insides of the easter eggs with numbers and collecting prizes that matched the numbers. She had a system, albeit one that sometimes included some duplicate and triplicate numbers, but her heart was so into it and it showed. Everyone walked away with some kind of treasure, kids and adults alike and it’s something we all looked so forward to every year. She gave so generously and freely and made sure that each and every person felt truly appreciated and valued. Now that we’re grown up, we’ve passed the torch to the younger generation, to my cousins’ precious children – Sienna, Brett, Adalyn, Micaela and Melanie. It’s been such a heartwarming treat to watch my Aunt Patti assume the throne of queen of the egg hunt. She learned from the best and she carries her mother’s same sensitive and generous heart that these little ones will be so blessed by.
